The annual Board of Directors Kickoff Luncheon is a yearly meeting of past presidents, awardees, and longtime friends of the NMHSCA.  Each board of directors invites 9 individuals to sit at his or her table representing the respective region of the board member. The President each year invites a special guest speaker to address the event invitees. One hundred sixty individuals will be asked.

Mike Pereira is a former American football official and later vice president of officiating for the National Football League (NFL) and currently the head of officiating for the United Football League (UFL). Since 2010, he has served as a rules analyst for Fox Sports, for which he has gained the nickname "Mikey Rule Books".

Coaches Lisa Villareal, Lori Mabrey, and Stacy Williams initiated SHEROW in 2023 at the annual summer conference. The goal is to help female coaches, officials, and athletic directors meet the demands of being female in high school sports.  This SHEROW session will be the 4th over the course of 2023_2024.  The NMHSCA Board of Directors encourages all female coaches, officials and athletic directors to attend this session.

Joe Zeni was the first Prep All American ever named in New Mexico and hails from Carlsbad, NM. In 1940, Joe Zeni became a sales rep for M&W. With Joe, M&W entertained a handful of coaches in his backyard in 1940. This was the start of the annual Coaches Steak Fry. It was sponsored entirely by M & W until the post world wars. It was held for many years at the State Fair grounds, Pine Flats, Elks Picnic grounds, and UNM Golf Course. There was once night at the Dirty Bourbon, but for other than that singular night, he has been hosted on the patio of the Crowne Plaza for the past 22 years.

 The Annual Joe Zeni Coaches Social, no longer a steak fry, is a long-standing tradition of the New Mexico High School Coaches Association. The event features dinner, music, socializing, Baggio Championships, Karaoke, and most recently, the Roadrunner Races.  It's a great time.  Officials are invited and welcomed.

Coach Bill Blankenship - Owosso, OK hosted by Coaches Outreach. (Testimony)

Bill Blankenship is an American football coach and former player, known for his tenure as head coach at the University of Tulsa from 2011 to 2014. He had a successful high school coaching career for over 20 years, notably at Union High School, where he won three state titles. Blankenship also coached at Fayetteville High School and led teams to state championships at Owasso and Tulsa Union high schools.
