All-Star & All-State Basketball Selection Process

The Following Step Outline the Selection of Both All-Star & All-State Basketball Teams.

  1. Head Coach Must be an Online Registered Member of the NMHSCA
  2. All-Star athletes must be academically eligible, end the season in good standing and be a senior. All-State athletes must be academically eligible, end the season in good standing, and be in 8th grade through 12th grade. Athletes must participate in 50% of the games played during the season to be eligible. (Any athlete may be removed from an all-star or all-state team by the head coach, the school’s athletic director, the principal, and/or the NMHSCA president for perceived poor character).
  3. Every District must meet and complete an All-Star Form A & District All-State Nomination Form prior to the Sunday after the State Basketball Championships.
  4. Every District must send two reps to the all-star & all-state selection meeting on the Sunday the day after the NMAA State Championship. The meeting is in Albuquerque and starts at 1:30 pm.
  5. The 1st District Representative is responsible for being at the All-Star Basketball Selection Meeting and bringing the Basketball Form A.
  6. The 2nd District Representative is responsible for the All-State Basketball Selection and needs to ensure the district completes an All-State Basketball District Nomination Form.
  7. Both All-Stars will be released on Sunday evening (7:00 pm) the day after the NMAA State Basketball Championship.
  8. All-Star Basketball Players will have a $207.45 registration fee after online service charge.  The NMHSCA Board of Directors expects coaches to use funds from the athletic department, booster clubs, or other measures to pay for their athletes.  The registration fees are used for lodging, food, uniforms, facilities, staff, and officials for the games.
