NMHSCA All-Star Basketball

The NMHSCA Board of Directors has created a new All-Star Platform that will be launched in 2019.  Regional All-Star Basketball teams will be chosen rather than North and South.  There will be a NE, SE, NW, & SW team for both small school and large schools.  All-Stars will now play two games as an all-star rather than one.  

2019 All-Star Basketball Game Dates:

  • Athletes report on Thursday, May 30th, 2019
  • Game #1 will be Friday, May 31st, 2019
  • Game #2 will be Saturday, June 1st, 2019
  • Locations will be Valley & Manzano High Schools
  • All-Star Basketball Registration process is open.

NMHSCA Releases the 2019 All-Star Basketball Teams

North vs. South All-Star Teams have been determined.

The 2019 NMHSCA North vs. South All-Star teams have been selected by the NMHSCA. 2019 is an exciting year for all-star basketball in New Mexico.  The NMHSCA Board of Directors voted to implement a new format for this upcoming summer.  Regional All-Star teams have been selected in both Large School and Small School for each gender.  All-Star basketball players will now get to play in two basketball games.  The first games will be traditional North vs. South with the Northeast regional teams playing the Southeast regional teams.  The Northwest teams will compete against the Southwest.  The second night the winners will play as well as the losing teams.  Athletes will report on Thursday, May 30th.  Athlete registration will open on April 3rd and close on April 19th, 2019.

Mr. Alford will speak at the 75th Annual NMHSCA Coaches Clinic on Monday, July 29th, 2019, Bryce will present two sessions. One will be at 5:00 pm. and the second one at 7:00 pm.  Learn from the best by attending the NMHSCA Coaches Clinic. NM's Best Coaches will be there.

Bryce Michael Alford[1] (born January 18, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Blue of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. He set school records for the most three-point field goals made in a game, season, and career. He earned first-team all-conference honors in the Pac-12 as a senior in 2016–17.

As a senior in high school in New Mexico, Alford set a state single-season scoring record, and was named the state's top high school player. He was named one of the top freshmen in the Pac-12 in his first season with UCLA. As a sophomore in 2014–15, he became the team's starting point guard and set the Bruins' record for most three-pointers made in a season. Alford moved to shooting guard as a senior, when he surpassed his own single-season record and became the Bruins' career leader in three-pointers made. After going undrafted in the 2017 NBA draft, he played for the Oklahoma City Blue in the NBA G League in 2017–18. He is the son of former basketball player Steve Alford, who was also his head coach at UCLA.

2019 All-Star Hotels Have Been Announced

All-Star Athletes will be housed in style.

The NMHSCA has announced the hotel in which the 2019 All-Stars will be housed during the 2019 North vs. South All-Star Games.  Athletes will be staying at the Crowne Plaza Albuquerque & the Fairfield by Marriott.

The NMHSCA covers the cost of all lodging for all-star athletes and coaches.  Breakfast will be served by the Crowne Plaza every morning the athletes are on site.  Lunch will also be provided in the Rio Grande room.
